District play for baseball and authentic Matt Williams jersey Grey softball is set to begin this week and the brackets are out.
On the softball side things get going as Towanda will be at Troy on Tuesday in the opening round of AA authentic Matt Cain jersey Black District Four play. However, both coaches are downplaying the match-up.
"We just need to come and worry about ourselves," Troy coach Jenn Silata said.
"We know what to expect, they know what to expect," Ryan Larcom, the Towanda coach, said, "We're prepared to play anybody."
Silata added that her team likes its seeding, but winning is all that matters.
"We have to win here on out," she said. "We could be the worst seed; the bottom line is, we need to win."
"I think whoever wins will be in good shape for the next round," Larcom added.
The winner will play on Friday against the winner of South Williamsport and Montoursville. If Troy wins it will be a home game; if Towanda wins it will be on the road.
Also in AA is second-seeded Wyalusing. The Rams receive a first- round bye and will face the winner of Mifflinburg and Bloomsburg on Friday at home.
In A the Northeast Bradford Panthers captured the top seed.
"We're really pleased to be No. 1," Northeast coach Gary Hennip said. "I think we have a good chance. We're going to have to play well."
Hennip believes that his team is peaking just at the right time. "I think if we just play as we've been playing we have a good shot," he said. "Play good defense and get a few timely hits."
Northeast moves directly to the semifinals and doesn't play until on Tuesday, May 26, in Elm Park, either against Canton or Southern Columbia. The Warriors will travel to Southern authentic Matt Cain jersey Cream on Friday for their first-round game.
On the baseball side, Towanda will host Wyalusing in AA authentic Freddy Sanchez jersey Black action on Friday, a continuation of their NTL rivalry.
"Obviously, going into the postseason we're very familiar with them and they are familiar with us" Wyalusing coach Dave Hitchcock said. "I don't think one team has an advantage over the other. Obviously, they have been playing very good ball, but so have we."
"I think anytime Towanda and Wyalusing play it's a big game" Towanda coach authentic Matt Cain jersey Grey Bill Sexton said. "I think both teams will show up and be ready to play."
"We'll do everything we can to win the ball game, so won't they," Hitchcock authentic Freddy Sanchez jersey Orange said. "It will be a very competitive game on both sides, equally matched."
"We just got to continue to be able to play and hit," Sexton said. "No secret -- do the fundamental things right that got you to where you are."
Sexton also believes seeding doesn't matter.
"Don't worry about match-ups," he said, "Anybody can win."
The winner will play the winner of Mount Carmel and Southern Columbia at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Bowman Field in Williamsport.
In District Four A action, Canton Matt Williams official jersey and Sayre ended up on opposite sides of the bracket.
Canton, a four seed, will host Elkland on Tuesday while Sayre, a three seed, will host Line Mountain. If the Warriors authentic Matt Williams jersey White win they will face top-seeded Montgomery on Friday at Bowman Field with a 7 p.m. start. If Sayre wins it will face the winner of Muncy and Bucktail on Friday at Bowman Field with a 4:30 p.m. start.
In AAA action three-seeded Athens will host Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. If the Wildcats win they will travel to Bowman Field on Saturday, May 23, authentic Matt Cain jersey Orange against either Montoursville or Mansfield with a 2:30 p.m. start.
All games have a 4:30 p.m. start unless noted otherwise.
